Girl on a Motorcycle

I read "Gils on a Motorcycle" written by JOHN ESCOTT

"What can we do?" says Kenny. "She is leaving soon. Let's phone the police. I think it's her."

"No!" Ned says quickly. "Not the police. Wait..." Kenny looks carefully him.
"What's the matter? Are you... afraid of something?"
The story begins from the scene that Kenny stopped at a motel on his way to San Francisco by bus. A supermarket near the motel was robbed. The criminal was described that she had a blond hair and rode a motorcycle.
When Kenny was walking into his room at the motel, he saw a blonde woman on a motorcycle that he thinks he has seen before. Then he saw on the TV in his room that the woman's features are the same as those of the supermarket robber. He went into the woman's room and tried to find evidence of the robbery, but there was no thing like that. But when he happened to look in the other room, he found a blonde wig and the jacket that the robber was wearing, and when Kenny was in the room, he saw the owner of the room, Ned, came back. This man was the real robber.

Firstly, I thought that Kenny was strong person. Because he hadn't been robbed nothing, and it wasn't directly related to him about the robber in the supermarket. So I thought it was ballsy to look for the robber who had gun. Also I thought that the woman, Mel was strong and cool. Because the person who could prevent the robber from escaping was Mel!
